What it is and what it's for#
WinChange has three different instruments, and mixing them up is the most common mistake:

How to set it up#
Surveys#
A survey is defined once and launched as many times as you like, in waves. That is what lets you repeat the same survey every quarter and compare. Surveys are created in Manage › Surveys › Surveys.

Create the survey
With Add survey: Name (ES) and Name (EN), Description (what the person reads before starting; it is a single text with no English version), Points for answering, Anonymous answers and Survey active.

Add the questions
With the Questions button on the survey's row. Each one with its type and its position and, for closed questions, its options. The list tells you whether the Questions ready are complete.

Launch a wave
With the Waves button on the row: Wave name, the dates between which it is open (From and To) and who it is aimed at.
Question types:

The wave is where the reach is decided: it can be narrowed by Organisational structure, Locations and Eligibility groups; with nothing ticked, it goes to everyone. The wave also offers Tribes, but the screen itself warns that choosing tribes does not narrow the audience. Once launched, its audience is fixed: changing it neither removes the survey from anyone nor adds it for anyone, and a new question does not reach waves already launched.

Anonymity is decided before the first wave: as soon as one exists, the Anonymous answers tick box locks. If you promise anonymity, check it before the first wave: it is the one thing in the whole programme that does not allow a correction.
Quizzes#
A quiz does not live on its own: it is created in the Content Library with + Nuevo test (new test) and added to an action in its content step (Añadir contenido › Test); the action is completed with Superar el test (pass the test). The person takes it from the action and passes it by reaching the pass mark.
In the library you write the questions and the quiz header: when the person sees whether they got it right (Feedback: Pregunta a pregunta question by question, Al terminar at the end, or Sin feedback none), whether it is Estándar or Gamificado (Modo), the Límite de tiempo (segundos, 0 = sin límite) (time limit in seconds) and whether questions and options are shuffled. Questions can have one correct answer (Única), several (Múltiple), a free-text answer (Texto libre) or a numeric one (Número), and on each option you mark whether it is Correcta. You can also create several quizzes at once from a spreadsheet, with Cargar desde plantilla (load from template).
The same library holds the interactive pieces (+ Nueva pieza interactiva: true or false, matching, ordering, sorting, flashcards, role play or external content), which the action completes with Completar el juego o contenido interactivo.
The pass mark and retakes are not set on the quiz, but on each action that uses it, under Condiciones del test (quiz conditions): Umbral de aprobado (%) (pass mark) and Se puede repetir (can be retaken). That way the same quiz can require 60 in one action and 90 in another. See Actions.
Unless you are certifying something with consequences, tick Se puede repetir. The point is for people to learn, not to catch them out in a mistake; a quiz that blocks the route generates support tickets, not knowledge.
Climate#
Climate works differently: these are not questionnaires but stand-alone questions shown on a recurring basis in the app, and answered in a single gesture.
Questions are kept in Manage › Surveys › Sentiment Analysis Questions, with Add question. Each one has a Topic (it groups questions among administrators; people are not shown it), the wording in Question (ES) and Question (EN), the Projects it is asked in (at least one), the dates From (blank, from now) and Until (blank, it never expires), and optionally Only in these locations and Only in these groups (the units of the organisational structure). Only questions with Question on enter the daily draw of questions: you can write one today and switch it on when the time comes. A question that already has answers cannot be deleted, only switched off.
The list tells you, for each question, who it reaches, how many answers it has, its average and its comments, and it has filters such as Not translated or Do not reach yours to review the whole set.

When answering, the person can add a comment. That is usually where what really explains the number is to be found.
Grouping the questions by Topic is what turns scattered answers into a reading. An orphan question says nothing; five "workload" questions over three months do.
What the employee sees#
- Surveys: a notice when there is a wave open for them, with the points they get for completing it and the closing date.
- Quizzes: the quiz inside the action, with the result when they finish and, if they fail, the option to retake it when that is allowed.
- Climate: a short question every now and then, with the option of adding a comment.
Frequently asked questions#
Can I repeat the same survey later on?
Yes, that is exactly what waves are for: same survey, new wave. Scale questions are the ones that let you see the change over time.
Can I change the questions between waves?
You can, but you lose the comparison. If you need to ask something else, create a new survey and leave the original untouched.
If a survey is anonymous, do you know who answered it?
Their participation is recorded, so they can be given their points, but their answers cannot be attributed to them. It is important to explain it in those terms: people assume "anonymous" means that not even their participation is known.
Can I launch a wave only to one tribe or to certain stores?
To certain stores, yes: narrow the wave by Locations when you create it. It is the usual approach when you want to contrast two sites. To one tribe, no: the wave warns that choosing tribes does not narrow the audience, so use structure, locations or eligibility groups.
How often should I ask a climate question?
Little and sustained. One question every few days gets answered for months; a weekly battery is abandoned within three weeks.
Limits and warnings#
- Anonymity cannot be changed after the first wave.
- A closed wave cannot be reopened. If you did not allow enough time, launch another wave.
- The survey's points are given for completing it, not for what is answered.
- Changing an action's pass mark does not revisit earlier results.
- Editing a quiz changes every action that uses it. Before touching one that is in use, check in the library how many actions it is in.
- Nobody reads free-text answers and climate comments on their own. If you are not going to put time into reading them, do not ask for them: asking and not answering does more harm than not asking.
- Climate questions expire. Check the From and Until dates every so often or the module will go quiet without anyone noticing.
