Branding and languages

Putting the app into the client's brand and managing the project's languages.

What it is and what it is for#

The app does not present itself as WinChange: it presents itself with your brand and, normally, with the name of the programme. People recognising it as something belonging to their company rather than an external tool changes adoption from day one.

Customisation has two layers: the visual identity, which is defined for the whole company, and the front page of each project, which is defined project by project.

How to set it up#

1. Visual identity#

FieldWhat it does
LogoShown in the app header and in emails. Format with a transparent background.
Brand coloursThe palette applied to the interface.
Nota:

Living with a brand palette and keeping contrast readable are not always compatible. If your corporate colour is very light or very saturated, check how text looks on top of it before signing it off.

2. Project front page#

Each project has its own welcome, and it is where the tone is set:

FieldWhat it does
HeadingThe welcome headline.
SubheadingThe text under the headline. It accepts formatting.
BannerThe front page image.
Menu itemsWhich sections appear in the app for that project.
SponsorWho backs the programme inside the organisation.
Consejo:

The name of the programme matters more than the colours. ConectaAndara is remembered and said out loud; Cultural Transformation Portal is not said by anyone.

3. Languages#

Languages are switched on in the company record, and one of them is the default language.

From then on, every piece of content you write has one field per language: names of journeys, challenges, badges, store items, news, survey questions and notices.

Aviso:

An untranslated field is shown empty to anyone on that language. It does not fall back to the default language. It is the most frequent failure in multi-language programmes: a half-translated journey goes live and part of the workforce sees challenges with no title.

Before launching content on a project with several languages, the check is always the same: go through the new content with each active language.

What the employee sees#

  • Your logo and your colours from the login screen onwards.
  • The project front page: heading, subheading and banner.
  • All the content in their language, if it has been translated.
  • The programme's emails carrying your brand.

FAQs#

Can I have a different brand per project?

The visual identity (logo and colours) belongs to the company and is shared. What does change per project is the front page: heading, subheading, banner and menu. In practice that is enough to make two programmes feel different.

Is the app published under our name in the app stores?

It depends on your contract. Check it with your WinChange contact.

Can I change the language of one particular person?

Yes, from their record. They will see the content in that language, as long as it has been translated.

Can I add a language part-way through a programme?

Yes, but all the existing content will be left untranslated in that language, and will be shown empty. You have to translate backwards before assigning it to anyone.

Limits and warnings#

  • An untranslated field appears empty, not in the default language.
  • The default language only applies to people who have no language assigned.
  • Changing the logo or the colours affects every project in the company at once.
  • Adding a language does not translate anything automatically.
